Put Your Home Selling Plan into Action Now
So… you’ve always liked this home that a friend, family member, or neighbor owns. Guess what? They have mentioned that it’s time to downsize and are thinking about selling. But wait…. You want that house before anyone else gets a chance at it. It’s time to get down to business and come up with a home selling plan.
You may think, “Our house is no where ready to sell,” so what’s the next step? You need to sell yours first, in order to buy your dream home. It may be January, but now is the time for you to already have an action plan and be putting in that sweat equity to get your house ready to go.
It’s no secret that the real estate market is slow during the winter, and as spring approaches, more properties pop up for sale. If you want to be ahead of the game, be ready to go at any time.
Consider things like making any necessary repairs – plumbing fixes, or anything electrical that may need an upgrade or not up to code. Always be sure to hire a licensed contractor to do the work. Once the house seems structurally solid, then upgrade some of the cosmetics. It’s up to you if you want to replace that worn out carpet, or update the bath before selling. Sure, it’s going to be more appealing to a buyer. But weigh the return on investment, when it comes to how much money to put into the update. Maybe consider not putting in top of the line products, but instead middle of the road, good quality ones.
Hiring a licensed real estate agent as someone in your corner can help you figure out if those updates will be worth it. That’s where we do our work. Helping you find the current market value on a home. Once we’ve determined that an investment may be worthwhile, it’s go time. Get the updates completed and be ready for the market just before spring to beat the curve.
Your home is one of the biggest investments you’ll make in your lifetime, and with a smart approach to buying or selling will pay off in the long run. It all starts with a conversation, and a home selling action plan, NOW.
There are many other topics to discuss heading into this year, so feel free to contact me and let’s talk about selling or buying a home. Start your search right here on my site.
